The C word... CORE! (Sunday 19 January 2025)

What does'engage your core'  mean to you? Does it help you to move beautifully and enjoy moving? I did my first Pilates way back before anyone thought about 'core'. Some brilliant teachers/practitioners still use the term but it never made sense to my body.

This workshop will cover the concept of 'core' and different ways of moving. Centring and trunk stability are integral to Pilates - understand the differences between these and 'working your core'. Pilates is whole body movement with different ways to mobillise,  challenge, strengthen your whole body. Click here to book.

Balls to Pilates! (Sunday 26 January 2025)

Many and varied balls are used in Pilates classes. What is a Pilates ball? Why do teachers insist on using them? What is the 'magic shoulder release' that I often give private clients in their first class? How and why can overballs release upper back tension and pain? And how can the same ball strengthen your inner thighs and release a tight neck?

All this and more will be covered in the two-hour workshop where you will also have a chance to find what you need to buy for home practice.

Roll up to Pilates! (Sunday 2 February 2025)

The much loved (and cursed) foam roller was originally developed for Feldenkrais classes before being adopted into Pilates studios. In this workshop we'll cover their different uses and benefits, in addition to trying different sizes and materials. You'll learn which rollers work best for your body; how they can be challenging and relaxing. And get to experience the 'moment of loveliness' when you lie on the floor afterwards!

Pilates and the Magic Circle (Sunday 23 February 2025)

You may have used a Pilates ring in Pilates or gym. Originally called 'magic circles', this padded metal ring provides a great way to strengthen your inner thighs but it can also do much more. In addition to learning different ways to use the magic circle, the workshop will also explore ways to target the muscles you want and avoid gripping, tightening and unnecessary tension elsewhere.
